The is a driver for the SPI Flash Controller found in Intel chipsets, primarily used in the Intel Platform Controller Hub (PCH). The SPI Flash Controller interfaces with a system's firmware storage (typically a BIOS or UEFI chip

This driver is essential for proper communication between Windows and the hardware that manages firmware. If the driver is missing or outdated, your system may encounter issues with firmware management or BIOS updates, and you may see the "Unknown device" or "This device cannot start" error in Device Manager.

Option 1: Automatically Through Windows Update

  1. Open Device Manager:

    • Press Win + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
  2. Locate the Device:

    • Look for the under System Devices or as an Unknown Device in Device Manager (if the driver isn't installed).
  3. Update Driver:

    • Right-click on the entry.
    • Choose Update Driver from the context menu.
    • Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will try to find and install the driver from its database or online.

Option 4: From the Manufacturer's Support Site (if applicable)

If your computer or motherboard came with a driver CD or if you have a support portal for your system, you can manually download and install the driver from there.
