The Intel(R) H61 Express Chipset Family LPC Interface Controller - 1C5C is part of the chipset driver package that supports Intel's H61 Express Chipset. The LPC Interface Controller is a part of the motherboard's I/O (input/output) architecture, which provides communication between the CPU, memory, and peripheral devices. In particular, it handles legacy I/O devices that are connected to the system via the Low Pin Count (LPC) bus, such as a system's BIOS or system management devices.
In simpler terms, this controller is responsible for managing communication between the chipset and certain low-speed peripheral components on the motherboard. If you see an error or missing driver for this component in Device Manager, it means Windows is unable to locate or use the proper driver for this controller.
How to Install the Intel H61 Express Chipset Family LPC Interface Controller - 1C5C Windows Driver
You can install the correct driver in several ways. Here are the most common methods:
Method 1: Automatic Update via Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- In Device Manager, find "Other devices" or "System devices" and look for the Intel H61 Express Chipset Family LPC Interface Controller - 1C5C entry (it may have a yellow triangle if it's not working properly).
- Right-click on the device and select Update Driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will search for and attempt to install the latest driver.
- If a driver is found, it will be installed automatically. After the process, restart your PC.
Method 2: Download the Driver from Intel's Website
- Visit the Intel Download Center.
- Search for "Intel H61 Express Chipset" or your motherboard model (if you know it).
- Look for the Chipset Device Software or Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility for your system's operating system (make sure it's compatible with your version of Windows).
- Download and install the appropriate driver.
- Follow the installation instructions provided, and restart your computer when finished.
Method 3: Using the Motherboard's Manufacturer's Website
If you have a branded system (e.g., Dell, HP, ASUS), you may need to visit the manufacturer's website and download the chipset drivers specifically designed for your system. These drivers are often customized for your hardware configuration.
- Go to the support page of your computer or motherboard manufacturer.
- Find the Drivers & Downloads section.
- Search for your specific motherboard or system model.
- Download and install the latest chipset driver package.
- Restart your computer.
Method 4: Using Windows Update
Sometimes, Windows Update can automatically detect and install missing drivers. To check for updates:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates. If there are any pending driver updates, Windows will download and install them automatically.
After installing the driver, you should no longer see the yellow warning sign in Device Manager, and the LPC Interface Controller should be working properly. If you continue to have problems or encounter other issues, feel free to reach out for more detailed assistance.
